Warts

Warts- there are various types of warts such as: plane, common, filiform and verrucas. These are small, rough growths on the skin caused by a viral infection. Caused by Human papillomavirus (HPV) which infects the top layer of the skin. The virus is able to make skin cells grow faster than normal, forming a raised lump.Warts can develop individually or in clusters and are very contagious.Appearance:

rough surface
raised bumps on the skin
small black dots inside (tiny clotted blood vessels)
can appear skin colour, grey or brown
single, or multiple

Common warts (Verruca Vulgaris)– rough, raised appearance, usually found on hands, fingers, elbows, knees and often dome-shaped.

Plantar warts– found on the soles of the feet, often painful when walking, grow inward due to pressure from standing.

Flat warts-small, smooth, flat appearance.Usually these come in clusters, commonly found on face, neck and hands.

Filiform warts-long, thin, finger- like growths, often found on face or around the mouth.
